This lecture, at Rollins College, is in conjunction with the ‘Posing Beauty in African American Culture’ exhibition at Snap! Space (on view January 13 through February 11) curated by Dr. Deborah Willis.

Professor Deborah Willis is a theorist and historian of African American photography, as well as a photographer herself. Dr. Willis is chair of the Department of Photography & Imaging at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, and has an affiliated appointment as Professor with the College of Arts and Sciences, Africana Studies. She has been the recipient of Guggenheim, Fletcher, and MacArthur fellowships, the Infinity Award in Writing from the International Center for Photography, and recipient of the Anonymous Was a Woman Foundation Award. Named one of the “100 Most Important People in Photography”.
