Massive Dumps

Since loosing the presidential election the POTUS has been bunkered up in the White House and Tweeting up a storm. His claims of  a “rigged” election are having to be blocked by twitter.

On Tuesday November 17, 2020 he tweeted out a message that fired Chris Krebs, a Top U.S. cybersecurity official who states publicly that, “The November 3rd election was the most secure in American history.”

On Nov. 12, 2020 his agency Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) declared “there is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.”

Krebs has drawn praise from both Democrats and Republicans for his handling of the election, which generally ran smoothly despite persistent fears that foreign hackers might try to undermine the vote.

Nearly two weeks after Election Day, Trump has neither called Biden nor made a formal concession. Trump, without using Biden’s name, said that “He won” as part of a tweet that made baseless claims about a “rigged” election. This may be the only form of a concession the nation will ever get from this Tweeting grifter. Ron Klain, who is Joe Biden‘s new chief of staff said, “Donald Trump’s Twitter feed doesn’t make Joe Biden president or not president. The American people did that.”

Just about every day since the election more that 100,000 people have been infected by COVID-19 daily. Hospitals in the Midwest are nearing capacity.  We are entering the most dangerous phase of the pandemic since it is spreading out of control in all 50 state. Stay safe and steer clear of conspiracy theorists. They are bloody crazy, especially this guy with the toilet paper stuck to his shoe.

The Goat Herd

In California, a large herd of goats escaped into the suburbs. They of course have no concept of what social distancing might mean as they bumped shoulders and ate flowers from people’s front years. Watching the hilarious video it is easy to see that herding goats is much like herding cats. They go wherever they want. This is America after all.

Disney Springs will be opening May 20, 2020 in phases. I should imaging that people who have been couped up inside for months will of course want to go there to shop and try the restaurants. Someone on twitter made the analogy that the herd of goats reminded him of a herd of tourists being unleashed into Disney Springs. Re-opening has its complications because it’s not simply a matter of reopening the doors and greeting guests once again. Many venues laid off employees, who are possibly now collecting unemployment if they made their way through the difficult to navigate online and phone system. Restaurants will need to scramble for supplies, and work on implementing whatever safety changes are necessary. Many will probably take a wait and see approach, keeping a close watch on other restaurants to see how things go. Only select third parties are reopening during the initial phase.

Venues opening include, 4 Rivers Cantina Food Truck, Polite Pig, STK, Wine Bar George, Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill, Chicken Guy, Blaze Pizza, Erin McKenna’s Bakery, Frontera Cocina, Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream Kiosk, Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company, Sunshine Churros, YeSake Kiosk.

I saw pictures of Shanghai Disney‘s opening day and large bowed were painted on pavement in the lines. The boxes showed a pair of feet surrounded with a red circle with a line through the feet. This was clearly and attempt to maintain some social distancing. However many stood IN the boxes, right behind the people in front of them. Everyone was required to wear face masks. In the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic, not wearing a mask was illegal. That pandemic killed over 250,000 people in America. More died from the virus than in WWI. Yet today, the POTUS refuses to wear a mask himself. I choose to wear one when I go out, because I care about the people around me.

Lights for Liberty

Lights for Liberty held a vigil at Lake Eola Park to protest the inhumane incarceration of immigrants at the border. The rain died down as the chants and protests subsided around the little red gazebo. One candle lit two, which ignited four which then ignited exponentially more candles. People struggled to keep the light ablaze by protecting the flame with their hands. The storm still persisted. Protesters marched around the lake once and then concluded with a vigil and moment of silence.

As court cases tighten the noose around the POTUS, he is lashing out at others on the hill with racist rants.  The deplorable conditions in the southern detention centers are further evidence of a platform of dehumanizing rhetoric. A family seeking asylum begged for their daughters sake since she had a congenital heart disease. A detention center doctor found that she did indeed have a heart condition. This toddler was told she must choose between her parents since one would be sent back across the border. She chose her mother but once her father was being escorted away she broke down and cried. How could a child be asked to choose between their parents? The doctor insisted the family be kept together for the child’s sake and he stayed with them overnight off the clock. The next day he found a different detention officer who agreed to keep the family together. Their future remains uncertain.

In Charlottesville, Neo Nazis chanted “Jews shall not replace us!” as they marched at night with tiki torches. A Unite the Right Rally white supremacist drove his car into peace loving counter protesters killing one woman, Heather Heyer, on that day in 2017. He was just sentenced life in prison plus over 400 years. The POTUS claimed there were “Very good people on both sides.” This is why Neo Nazis and his base love him so much. History always repeats itself. During the start of WWII the United States also closed it’s borders to Jews seeking asylum from Nazi Germany. Then as now, the US turned a blind eye. Southern detention centers are as dehumanizing as the American citizen Japanese interment camps of WWII. Orlando seems like a bubble of compassion in a country where the rhetoric of hate is always what makes the news. Brave people still stand as a light in the dark against hate. They give hate no safe harbor. Lets hope the storm will pass.

“If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention.”
