The sixth annual festival celebrates the works of more than 25 artists, including members of the original Florida Highwaymen and the B-Side Artists collective. A highlight will be the demonstrations of life casting by Crealdé artist-in-residence Rigoberto Torres, who is creating a sculpture of Richard Hall Jr., a decorated Tuskegee Airman and Hannibal Square neighborhood hero. Featured music: the Porchdogs Cajun and Zydeco Band and Orisi Risi African Folklore. A “Kid-folk” workshop offers “The Aztec Encounter and Musical Parade.” Food trucks will be serving.

The entire community is invited to join us at Casa Feliz to celebrate our 10 Year anniversary as a historic home museum!  That’s right, it’s been 10 years since we opened our doors to the public, after a highly publicized move across Interlachen Avenue and years of painstaking restoration.  We had over 500 visitors that first day, March 5, 2005.   Since that time, over 100,000 people have crossed our threshold for our weekly open houses, weddings, programs and special events!

Listen:  Spread out a picnic blanket, bring the kids, and make yourself comfortable on our front lawn to enjoy the classic Latin sounds of the Don Soledad Group!  Inspired by the gypsy music of Andalucia, Don’s musical path, vision and original compositions journey through the borders of Spain, Latin America and beyond.  The Don Soledad group delivers an authentic, soulful flamenco guitar sound with a touch of Latin jazz and a hint of bossa nova.   The music will be ongoing from 12 noon to 3 pm.

Learn:  Have you ever taken an architectural tour of Casa Feliz?  Our trained docents will be on hand to lead group tours of the authentic Andalusian farmhouse, the signature residential work of architect James Gamble Rogers II.

Come Rock ‘n’ Roll to help the homeless community of Orlando at Cork Room Orlando in memory of one of Orlando’s great talents, Lee Swimmer. We lost Lee way too soon–he was, at age 17, lead guitarist for Edgar Winter–played in a number of local and regional bands including Fat Chance and Tight Shoes.
Lee wanted to use his talent to help the homeless so in his honor we do so.
Raffle prizes including guitars and more.

2pm to 7pm Free. Indie-Folkfest. The Mennello Museum of American Art, 900 East Princeton Street, Orlando, FL. A new Valentine’s day twist on an old tradition! The Mennello Museum of American Art updates the traditional Orlando Folk Festival with a new Valentine’s Day family affair, with music, special picnic-box cuisine, craft cocktails, music and art. A free sweetheart of an afternoon and evening, from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, February 14th in the Sculpture Gardens, overlooking the lake. The very best aspects of the annual Orlando Folk Festival come together for the debut Indie-Folkfest at The Mennello Museum – and it will all be squeezed into one special afternoon and evening on Valentine’s Day 2015.

Mark your calendar for this free affair that’s a gift from the museum’s City of Orlando Board of Trustees. The festival is produced by Genevieve Bernard, also producer of the Kids Fringe Festival that arrives in May to the same grounds of the Mennello Museum. Holding down the music stage is the irrepressible Joseph Martens and his sweetheart of a wife, Jessie. The couple will play emcees to the string of local musicians, as well as perform as their duo project, Juno Smile. Also confirmed to play is Eugene Snowden of The Legendary JCs. And there will be a special Twilight Concert to finish off the evening! The artist marketplace will take on a sweeping Valentine theme, with art and crafts for sale by longtime festival favorites, as well as newcomers. Create custom Valentine’s Day cards and ribbon sticks at the make-and-take art station. Bring a picnic basket or indulge in our special picnic-box cuisine developed by local establishments, which will be available for sale, along with extraordinary craft cocktail.

What is The Crack Rock Opera and who the devil is Danny Feedback? Danny Feedback is a rock n roll freak infamously known for lewd, lascivious stage antics and performance art rife with destruction of such objects as 800lb pianos while frequently in the nude. His music and lyrics are a blend of experimental garage and psych-pop, bristling with dissonance and fuzz; catchy yet jarring and always irreverent. As for The Crack Rock Opera it is Danny Feedback’s foray into theater, which is more like if an early John Waters had he formed a band. The media has described The Crack Rock Opera as “Rocky Horror, but With Better Music”.And despite being reviled by theater critics Feedback and his troupe The Crack Rock Opera have graced the front page of The Orlando Weekly, performed a full run at The Orlando International Fringe and performed well attended shows at various theaters in Central Florida…Now, Saturday January 31st The Crack Rock Opera celebrates the release of their self titled LP which they will perform at length.This album harkens back to the trippy story albums similar to The Firesign Theater that made their debut in the tumultuous late 60s. However, the CRO is much more potty mouthed, anti-PC, and irreverent in a ham fisted back hand sort of way and no social, ethnic or religious class is spared. Januray 31st The Crack Rock Opera brings it back to the gritty dives from whence they came, namely Will’s. All attendees will receive a limited copy of The Crack Rock Opera w/ carton character inserts.
